The National Social Housing Survey is a survey of social housing tenants which complements administrative data collected by social housing providers and includes information on tenants and their social housing experiences.

Data scope
Participants are randomly sampled from social housing programs e.g. Public Housing (PH), State Owned and Managed Indigenous Housing (SOMIH), Community Housing (CH) and Indigenous Community Housing (ICH).
The AIHW managed the NSHS in 2005, 2007, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018 and 2021.
There have been changes to the methodology for the NSHS over time. However, minimal changes have been made to the survey since 2012 to support time-series analysis.
