Quality information
Estimates of disease burden due to selected risk factors in the Australian Burden of Disease Study 2015 were produced using the best possible data available in the scope and time frame of the study.
To provide information on the quality of estimates, a quality index was developed to rate estimates based on the relevance and quality of source data, and methods used to transform data into a form required for this analysis. In general, the higher the rating, the more relevant and accurate the estimate.
For each risk factor, it was only possible to rate the quality of the data used to estimate the direct population attributable fraction (PAF) or the exposure data used to calculate the PAF. Other inputs (such as relative risks) were included in these calculations, however it was not feasible in the scope of this project to determine the quality of these inputs.
