24 Jul 2012 - This report contains errors as the wrong variable was used to flag cases as “high threat to life” (HTTL) injuries. The effect of this was to over-include cases, inflating counts of HTTL injuries by 9.0% overall. The overestimate varied by year from 8.1% to 11.1%. The error inflates most values in the report. The main purpose of the report is to present trends. Fortunately the over-inclusion had very little effect on trends. None of the conclusions drawn in the report on trends requires change due to this error.

Almost all of the tables and figures in INJCAT 132 have been superseded by equivalent tables and figures in the latest edition Trends in serious injury due to land transport accidents, Australia 2000-01 to 2008-09.
