Summary of updates to the National health data dictionary (NHDD) since version 14
This section summarises the updates made to the National health data dictionary (NHDD) version 15, published in August 2010. This reflects changes to national health data standards between July 2008 and June 2010. During this time, 13 data set specifications, 33 data clusters, 122 data elements, 1 classification scheme and 1 glossary item have been added to the NHDD. Other changes include the revision of 20 national minimum data sets, 8 data set specifications, 6 data clusters, 84 data elements, 7 classification schemes and 1 glossary item. As a result of these revisions, 86 data elements, 20 national minimum data sets, 8 data set specifications, 6 data element clusters, 7 classifications and 1 glossary item have been superseded. No national standards have been retired since version 14 of the NHDD was published.
These new standards have been agreed and endorsed by the members of the National Health Information Standards and Statistics Committee (NHISSC) and the National Electronic Health Information Principal Committee (NEHIPC).
