Former minister for health and ageing, the Hon Nicola Roxon, has been appointed chair of the AIHW board.
Minister for Health and Aged Care, the Hon Mark Butler MP, and Minister for Social Services, the Hon Amanda Rishworth MP, announced the appointment.
Ms Roxon is Chair of VicHealth and the health and community services superannuation fund HESTA. She served as minister of health and ageing from 2007 to 2011, attorney-general from 2011 to 2013 and minister for emergency management from 2012 to 2013. She was the MP for Gellibrand from 1998 to 2013.
Minister Butler also announced the appointment of Dr Walid Jammal as a member of the AIHW board. Dr Jammal is an experienced GP with a strong interest in men’s health, paediatrics and safety and quality in general practice.
